There are so many differing opinions of whether or not one should wrap their headers with heat tape. I have found header wrapping to be one of the most polar extremes when customizing a motorcycle – you either love it or hate it. Most of the performance arguments can be argued that it’s not a very significant gain in performance.

I just had a buddy, who really knows cars, warn me that wrapping them will ruin my headers. He argued they do it on racing motors to gain the argued benefits of keeping the air hotter so it will exit the headers faster. BUT, they replace the headers after each race.

I love the look of the “rat-style” bikes, and think I’ll risk it anyway. As the years go by, there are more and more Bonnie headers available out there. So what if I kill my first pair…
